Lies of our culture:
- You can be any gender you want
- You get the vax you won’t get the covid
- No new taxes (only for the wealthy)
- The inflation reduction act will end inflation
- White supremacists are the number one problem in America
- Defunding the Police will make crime go away
- We don’t teach your young kids about sex, gender, CRT. No way!
- The border is closed!
- East Palestine is safe..nothing to see here, move along
From a Christian perspective, truth and integrity are essential for a nation’s well-being and flourishing. As believers in God, we are called to pursue truth and live with integrity, not only as individuals but also as members of a society.
Firstly, pursuing truth is crucial for a nation’s stability and progress. When people are committed to seeking and speaking the truth, it fosters trust and transparency in the government and institutions, leading to a more stable society. On the other hand, when dishonesty and corruption are widespread, it erodes trust in the system and undermines the country’s progress. This is exactly what is happening. As CSC was in East Palestine recently, we realized that most of the people we talked to no longer trust the Federal Government. They certainly don’t trust Norfolk Southern!
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (Joh 8:31-32)
Truth-telling and integrity are fundamental Christian values. Jesus himself is the embodiment of truth and integrity, as he proclaimed himself to be “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). As followers of Christ, we are called to imitate him by speaking the truth in love and living with honesty and integrity in all aspects of our lives.
From a societal perspective, pursuing truth and integrity is the only way that will lead to greater social justice and equality. Not this fake, political, and leftist idea we have today of social justice, political correctness, and equity. True justice needs no adjective. When leaders and institutions prioritize truth and honesty, it helps to ensure that decisions and policies are made with fairness and justice in mind, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable groups.
The pursuit of truth and integrity can also bring about spiritual transformation for individuals and society. When people are committed to seeking and living by the truth, it can lead to repentance and a desire for spiritual renewal.
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. (Eph 4:25)
In contrast, when people prioritize personal gain over truth and integrity, it can lead to moral decay and spiritual darkness. The Bible warns against deceitfulness and dishonesty, stating that “A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin” (Proverbs 26:28
One of the reasons there is so much unrest in our culture is that it is now all built on lies, corruption, deceit, sexual perversion, and greed. At the heart of all this is the lies we are constantly told. So much so, that we have become apathetic and used to it. Finally, let me leave you with this:
Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit. There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy. (Pro 12:17-20)
